Contributing Factors in Accidents with Injuries or Fatalities

The majority of car accidents are preventable, caused by negligence, recklessness, or wrongdoing. In cases where another driver’s actions cause you serious harm, you might be entitled to pursue a lawsuit for your losses. It is important to discuss your case with an attorney who can help you understand your rights.

Contributing factors in injury and fatal collisions:

  • Aggressive driving
  • Alcohol impairment
  • Unsafe backing
  • Driver inattention or distraction
  • Failure to yield right of way
  • Following too closely
  • Improper passing or lane usage
  • Unsafe speed
  • Improper turning
  • Driver inexperience
  • Illegal drug use

Of the 5 boroughs, Brooklyn had the largest number of motor vehicle collisions in September 2022. In addition to the nearly 600 motorists that were injured, an additional 432 passengers and 196 cyclists were hurt in these accidents.
