As reported by the New York Daily News, the crash occurred at the Crown Heights intersection of Atlantic and Rochester Avenues at around 3:30 a.m. The Maserati is believed to have jumped a curb, hitting a concrete median, causing it to flip in the air before striking a pole. The collision caused the vehicle to nearly split in half underneath an elevated train line in Brooklyn.
Eyewitnesses saw the vehicle catch fire and heard the cries of a man trapped inside. According to ABC 7, one of the eyewitnesses called 911, alerting first responders to the fiery crash. The passenger, represented by Ajlouny Injury Law, suffered severe burn injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
