As reported by the New York Daily News, the crash occurred at the Crown Heights intersection of Atlantic and Rochester Avenues at around 3:30 a.m. The Maserati is believed to have jumped a curb, hitting a concrete median, causing it to flip in the air before striking a pole. The collision caused the vehicle to nearly split in half underneath an elevated train line in Brooklyn.
Eyewitnesses saw the vehicle catch fire and heard the cries of a man trapped inside. According to ABC 7, one of the eyewitnesses called 911, alerting first responders to the fiery crash.
